An Interfaith Retreat & Spiritual Center

The Abode of the Message was founded in 1975 as an experiment in living the “Message” of Hazrat Inayat Khan, the first Sufi teacher in the West.

Set on 350 acres in a historic Shaker village, the Abode’s mission is to provide a sanctuary for spiritual exploration and community, in harmony with nature. The purpose of the Abode is to provide a home for the Message and a living example of its practices in action.

Each year, the Abode hosts teachers and educators from many spiritual backgrounds, welcomes a diverse array of groups and events, conducts individual and group retreats, and sponsors interfaith classes, dialogue and programs.
